FACILITY FOR SENDING IN FILES, PHOTOS, DOCUMENTS ETC

If anyone has photos and doesn't have the facilities to transmit them to me by electronic means, by all means send via "snail mail" so I can scan them & return your photos to you.
This page has been setup to enable anyone that has pictures, photos or history that might be of interest to include on the Merrett Family Website, to send them to me. Unlike general information that can easily be submitted by a normal website form, files of larger size can be a problem to attach as attachments and in any case are not really suitable to be sent via normal email.
I have set up two (2) submit forms on this page for this reason. Please follow the procedure outlined below so that I can put the two together and get the information relating to the file sent.
PROCEDURE:
  • You will find it so much easier if you prepare all the files well before you submit them.
  • Reduce photos & pictures to max 250kb for black & white or 900kb for colour. If this size loses too much quality, then larger is fine. Most times 50KB will result in a good quality picture.
  • Rename the file to a sensible name rather than like most digital cameras. Avoid spaces in the names if possible. The name will most likely not be retained once in the database. [Simple method might be .... My name is Bruce so perhaps ... bruce1.jpg, bruce2.jpg, etc]
  • Record on a piece of paper each submitted files name, size & details for entering in the next form telling me details. If you forget, you can check HERE and see if it reminds you!
  • If you like you can zip up several pictures and histories into one zipped or RAR'd file and submit it in one go. Remember to still record details for individual files for me to be able to identify them. These details can be included inside the zipped file.

  • Fill in the required details in the form below that relate to the files you uploaded in the previous step. Once the details are entered, send it to me so that I can reconcile the details with the uploaded files. There is no problems if you need to submit it several times so that you can enter the details for each file. Five (5) files can be entered each time and you can leave some blank if need be.
